i gotta say that this was the outstanding dish - kepiting soka or soka crab

my besties came the next night to my home which was surprising :) it felt weird to see them again
after all this time, it feels like it was just yesterday, but i know that i missed a lot of things
i still could not believe it that they were there in front of me :) so nice to hug them again!
so we and my parents went to the best place for seafood - sarang kepiting, mangga besar.
there must be plenty of places to eat seafood here in australia, but no they dont cook it the way we cook it.
so yeah, ate a LOT that night. good food, good times.

one of the exciting thing about going home is the food (beside my family, of course :p)
i could eat all my cravings! like the real good stuff!
this is one of them - sate padang. we went to Pasaraya Grande and straight to Mak Syukur!
it was epic man! but the thing is I couldnt stand spicy as much as I used to, which is dissapointing!
but i fought for it, so that I could enjoy this beautiful thing :)

This was the day I got stranded at the airport, Melbourne Tullamarine international airport that is.
for frickin five hours, hows that for starting up my journey, pretty bad huh?
I think it was me who got unlucky, just because this doesn't happen that often.
I was a zombie airport for sure, i couldnt sleep the night before - this is just a habit of my body who wouldnt go to sleep, too nervous to travel.
so tried every position to sleep at the airport,no luck.

no, didnt fly with royal brunei, this was just a shot when i was bored. but maybe i should take this airline sometime, i heard they're pretty awesome and cheap.

i was suppose to transit in Denpasar, Bali. with my time table of connecting flight i should have got the time to spend time at seminyak or some other beach somewhere in Bali.
but nope, no luck. i was late for my second flight. and they better wait for me, its not my fault that im late.
it was frustating, havent been back for a while made me felt about the service in my country dissapointing.
i might sound arrogant or something but when you're used to convenience it'll be a struggle facing what happened to me that day :p
after a while then you'll get used to it again. i still love indonesia, don't worry.
and it was sooo humid, i could barely breath.
enough complains i should move on to the next nicer post hahaha

i might missed out telling you that i'll be away so quite some time
sorry for ditching with no post for a few months
first, it was assignments and exam then i was away.
so, i'm back now, hopefully everything will be normal soon
i haven't got my comfortable phase yet, but i'm getting there.
let me tell you bit by bit about the journey (i know that i haven't even finished my family roadtrip, but we'll figure that out, squeeze in here and there, ok?) - so it might not be in order.

i went back home to bandung/jakarta after 20 months, it feels weird, frustrating but so happy meeting my friends and family. I did not have much time to meet everyone, 3weeks wasn't long enough, apparently, plus I was sick for a few days (food poisoning)

so the route was
Melbourne - Denpasar - Jakarta - Bandung - Yogyakarta - Jakarta - Bogor - Jakarta
Jakarta - KL - Guangzhou - Hefei - Suzhou - Hangzhou - Shanghai - KL
KL - Delhi - Gurgaon - Agra - Delhi - Bangalore - Mumbai - Goa - Mumbai - KL
KL - Jakarta - Bandung - Jakarta - Denpasar - Melbourne.

13 flights [8 international, 5 domestic] + 2 bullet train ride + a zillion bus and car rides

then there was St. Jerome Laneway Festival plus had a roadtrip yesterday to Mornington Peninsula.
yup, my body is screaming to stop. i guess i had enough as well, enough for this summer.
i feel blessed.

now i don't know where to start, seriously.

last year, i went to grampians for my birthday roadtrip
this year, its just a mini roadtrip to the dandenongs for this tesselaar tulip festival :)
didn't planned it at all, i went with my housemate, joey and his friends... he asked me to join them like a day before, so i thought why not, forget my assignments, who cares.... (wakakakakkakka, thats impossible but yeah i did ditch my assignment - only for a day though) :)
we went by metro to lilydale, because it was a sunday there was no express train so it was stopping all station and took us ages to get to lilydale -_-
at lilydale there were shuttle buses that takes us straight to the venue
after a full week of rain, that day was the only day we saw the sun, so i guess a lot of people have the same idea as us, so yeah, it was packed with people
but it was all right and fun indeed :) its a very typical australian farmers market
nothing beats the feeling in the middle of that crowd with dogs,lil kiddos running around, delicious foods, live jazz band, and the sun! and those tulips!!! sooo lovely :)

my birthday this year was between assignments, i had trade policy essay due 2 days after my bday (laameee)
so, i was that close to not do anything at all, and everyone was busy anyway plus my lovely housemate went back to moscow for her besties wedding - she left me a gift before she left, those guitar earings, eye shadow and that card with indonesian wishes on it, i understand it well, but it sounds funny because she used formal words, of course google translator :p she's sweet :)
but then, of course my lovely hevora sena, called and insist me to (at least) have dinner.
and we did, she's an angel for saving the day :)
we went to trotters, lygon st. thanks to broadsheet
and had a fantastic dinner and loooong chat, i'm glad i had dinner with her
she also gave me a present!! that lovely colorful necklace hihi hi Eva! i hope you're reading this
(she said she's always disappointed if i didn't post anything because she usually read my blog before going to bed - she's too sweet)
speaking of sweet, she also gave me a cupcake - with a candle!! AND that pop up card!! oh my goodness.
the next morning, still strugling with my assignment, rima and kemi came to carnegie and we had brunch at the coolest place in carnegie, huff bagelry :) thanks girls for coming by.
Rima gave me that flowery earing, a giant chunck of homemade chocolate cake *yummmm!!!!*

then I had the rest of september just being busy and enjoying the sun in between
bought myself red velvet mini cupcake from little cupcakes
and went to ponyfish island with Rima at one fine afternoon, more pictures of this awesome place here
they built a bar under the southbank bridge, it does feels like an island :)

then a week or two after the birthday a package from the one and only papua island
miss enggar paramita sent me a misery mixtape!!! papua batik and a traditional bag (which i forgot to take pictures of it) i was soooo surprised :) thank you missy.
i got another present too from Ellie, oh my i am so blessed surrounded by this lovelies :)) can't ask for more

it was a great september :) wondering where will i be next year.......

so here we are, at the beginning of our journey
we rent a car and had the roadtrip for 10 days :) first destination was mansfield
on the way there we stopped by at Dandenong, it's like 'Puncak' for Melbourne
a lot of vintage cafes and coffeeshop, we didn't stay long because we're aiming for the wine tour
and it was freekin freezing at Dandenong as well, so.. had lunch in the car after take away nandos at lilydale

very unfortunate the weather was a bit of a disaster but we made the best of it :)
and here we are at Domaine Chandon
it was an amazing place, another disappointment was we had to wait for the wine tour for another 2 hours :(
we didn't plan to eat there, because we just had lunch and we have to reach Mansfield before dark
so we just wander around, take pictures and left
i wanna go back there for the wine tour someday, maybe it'll be gorgeous in summer don't you think?
and i wanna see when the wineyards are at their peak
anyway, we hit back the slippery road for mansfield..........

where is your favourite place lately? its kind of hard to decide when it comes to melbourne :p but i gotta say, until today, this is mine - brighton beach. (when it's not windy and freezing) i could sit here for hours :)
its like a tiny hill and you can see the famous colorful beach houses plus the melbourne city view as its background and of course, port phillip bay! summer picnic is perfect here! can't wait for summer.....
everytime im stressed with assignments (like now) all i want to do is runaway and sit there :p

my dearests, maybe i'm just tired and missing everyone too much so here i am being sentimental

this is a love letter for my super girls J

i had a beautiful day today, very refreshing - took myself out from my cage and enjoying the sunshine

it's been awhile and exactly what i needed.

it was so relaxing then it made me thinking, about friendship.

friends do come and go, some love you some hurt you but we all forgive eventually, at least i did.

But most of all, i am always grateful for having my best girls in the wholewideworld and soon we will be the sisterhood travelling pants :) they never ever let me down.

as i mention some time before, we've been living apart for the past year or so

one in new york, one in philladelphia and one in jakarta - amsterdam, very soon!! and me in melbourne.

at this minute while i'm writing this post, they're all gathering tonight for putri's farewell and of course, i am wishing to be there with them more than any place

i miss them too much, its been too long :_)

we knew each other back in highschool and have been really good friends since

we have been through a lot together, love affairs, breakups, family/friends issues and many more

they're the ones who always, always, always tried their best to be there for me and I tried my best to be there for them as well

I am very grateful to have them in my live - they are my safety net

So I dedicate this post for them and wishing my putri the best of luck, you will get through this just like the rest of us

hey, its been awhile since i posted 'what's for lunch' huh? i've been cooking alot lately, new recipes, recipe that i never thought of making but always always forgot to take pictures!! i usually tweet them though, well will do for the next cooking session :p anyways when my family was here i asked my parents to cook everything that i've been craving for - especially indonesian food!! and this is definitely one of them : dad's famous satay! with australian beef makes it much much better!! we bought a cheap barbeque-ish set :p we had gulai and tongseng as well with the satay + kerupuk + fried onion, yummm im hungry now! haha it was the best lunch ever!!!

so, i live in carnegie
it is only one station from my uni - caulfield
so, i usually go to uni by foot, it takes around 20 minutes one way
not that bad. put it as an exercise and clearing my brains out before/after lectures
one way to save transportation cost :p but i still go on trains when its too late at night, or too cold/raining/windy or just as simple as too lazy to walk :p
so, on the second day, my family are all curious on how far does it take to walk.
guess what? yes, of course complaint : too far.
well, they asked for it :p sorry guys! but at least they get to see the nice houses in the neighbourhood, right?

one month of family vacation with two and a half cameras (why half? well, theres three cameras with us, but we rarely used my old one)
resulting 36 GB 36 folders, we managed to organized them per day and wrote down the places we went that day.
so there won't be trouble in remembering, its all there, i just need time and time to upload them :D
first day was exchange gifts day, maybe like christmas, and surprisingly i got lots of gifts and letters, it was like my birthday :)
there was a set of kandura keramik from my talented lovely ladies nuri and ghia, kiss kiss.
and the necklace was from my aunties family - thank you tante atiek and family
i should publish this post right now or else i could not stop saying thank you :)

cant believe the last time i posted was that long ago
the thing was, we were on a roadtrip where internet access was limited
and right after we were back in melbourne, besides we're so exhausted, my laptop was highly occupied by my brother, sister, mom even my dad - these people could not live without internet, geez.
well, they're back already in indonesia and as well as myself back to uni starting yesterday. not the happiest moment. but, we have to carry on, yes?
took a look of our photo folders and it hits to 36 GB, can you believe it? crazy.
now i just dont know where to start, well probably i do (from the first day and goes on from there)
hmm i will try my best between my readings, assignments, social life, cooking and sleep. just be patient :p

starting point then.
well, these pictures were from the first folder, which was the arrival.
i remember the feeling, a little bit sleepy waking up too early and it actually made everything seems more likely to be a dream.
it took quite some time to believe that they are actually here! at southern cross station, waiting for me to pick them up.
its been nearly one and a half years (except my mom) since the last time we were face to face in person - skype does not count since we were seperated by two screens and miles of distance haha
we went straight to carnegie, where i live
thanks to the worlds greatest landlord who let my family stayed here for almost 3 weeeks, cant thank them enough.
made them a simple omellete and friends for breakfast yet very tasty for them (or they're just too happy to see me, or too tired after the eight hours flight :D)
after hugs and kisses we went to the most crucial place for my father : toorak.
why? in 1994 we lived here, i was in primary school and my bro and sis are still in kindergarden.
so here we are, back to where we were. and we agreed that everything seems smaller than we remembered.

am so happy, looking forward for her as a part of my life and this blog for sure
definitely will post soon, having my family here we got 4,5 G so far - thats 5 days minus one day because we stayed at home one day for a rest :P

semester one is officially over,
got rid of all the exam, whatever happens to the result X)
its holiday! i woke up this morning didnt know what to do haha
weird feeling, since the weather was horrible
end up staying at home and cleaned my room
the house will be quite starting tomorrow, everyone is going home..
i should start to plan things to do, more postings for sure!

ps. i found this gravity in one of the alleyways in Melbourne CBD, didnt have any idea what that place was, for english readers this is an indonesian phrase which means 'wish me luck' yeah, something like that :p
so, wish me luck for the results, lets start the winter break :)

i had the loveliest day today!
after the longest two weeks studying, i decided to take the day off today before i start another week
went to the city and i couldnt ask for a better weather, the sun was with me all along :)
wandering around and waited for Rima, meeting her for lunch and coffee before she head back to jakarta for holidays
we planned to go to south melbourne for st ali, so i waited at the tram stop at collins street
it happened that there was a jazz street band playing
it was part of the international melbourne jazz festival
they were awesome, sat there and watched them for almost an hour :p
it was exciting seeing people cheering for them, there was this two couples started to dance along
they also covered beyonce's single ladies, of course, dedicated to all the single ladies (ehem) :p
they realy made my day!!
silly me, didnt bring my camera along, thank Rima for taking the photos

hand made furniture? yeah, soon!! dream o dream.
we had indonesian food lunch - balado terong, another point for the day :p
found handmade wedding book - cant be more happier
cakes at let them eat cake and strolling at one of my favourite place in melbourne - south melbourne :) (brunswick street and its surrounding is another one)
bought some papers for handmade cards and end my day at the light instalation at federation square and smiling to the night city lights..
it was one perfect date with the city, i heart you melbourne!
